Using a lease-purchase model, these homes incorporate floor plans with one or two stories, four bedrooms and two-car garages, and are designed to blend into the surrounding neighborhood. The target population is families currently living in these communities who want to purchase a home near the newly built schools.
UNITED NORTH SCHOOL HOMES I:
The 24 homes comprising United North Schools Homes I includes the neighborhoods surrounding the new Sherman and Spring Elementary School buildings. Groundbreaking began in 2008 with completion in September 2009. Partners include the University of Toledo’s Urban Affairs Center, the Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce, the City of Toledo, Charter One Bank, the National Equity Fund, the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), and the Ohio Housing Finance Agency.
UNITED NORTH SCHOOL HOMES II:
The 24 homes comprising United North Schools Homes II includes the neighborhoods surrounding the new Sherman and Chase Elementary School buildings, as well as the new Woodward High School. Site preparation will begin in early 2009 with completion in the summer of 2010. Partners include KeyBank, Ohio Capital Corporation for Housing, the City of Toledo, and the Ohio Housing Finance Agency.
